Pontypridd Kyokushin: Celebrating 50 Years of Strength, Spirit & Community

Five decades. Countless memories. One unbreakable spirit.

Next year in 2026, Pontypridd Kyokushin celebrates 50 incredible years of martial arts excellence, community, and tradition. From the first dojo mats rolled out in the early 1970s to the disciplined kiais echoing through the halls today, our journey has been one of grit, respect, and growth.

A Legacy of Discipline and Dedication

Founded by passionate martial artists inspired by the philosophy of Masutatsu Oyama, Pontypridd Kyokushin quickly became more than just a dojo—it became a family. Over the years, hundreds of students, young and old, have passed through our doors, each one adding to our proud legacy.

Whether you were here in the early days training in freezing halls with only your gi and spirit to keep you warm—or you joined more recently during one of our summer camps—you’re part of something special.

Milestones and Memories

Over the past 50 years, we’ve had:

  • Dozens of black belts earned through sweat and perseverance

  • Competitions across the UK and abroad

  • Seminars with Kyokushin masters from around the world

  • Local demonstrations that inspired future generations

  • And a dojo culture built on Osu!, humility, and mutual respect

We’ve seen parents and children train together, lifelong friendships formed, and personal challenges overcome—all through the power of Kyokushin.

More to Come… And a Big Party on the Way!

We’re not just looking back—we’re charging forward. There’s so much more to come for Pontypridd Kyokushin. New students, new challenges, and new memories still to be made.

And yes—there’s a BIG celebration being planned! A chance to reunite, reminisce, and recognize the dedication of everyone who’s walked through our doors.

Stay tuned for announcements—because this is a party you won’t want to miss. Whether you were here at the beginning or just joined last week, this celebration is for YOU.
