Pontypridd Members Represent the Club at Competition on 30th May 2026

Several members of Pontypridd Kyokushin Karate Club were proudly in action on 30th May 2026, representing the dojo both on and off the competition mats.

The event saw members contributing in a variety of important roles, demonstrating the club’s ongoing commitment to supporting Kyokushin Karate at all levels.

Leading the team was Shihan Alwyn Heath, assisted by Sensei Denise Jones in a coaching capacity, providing guidance and support throughout the day.

Representing Pontypridd in competition was young Elai Button, who performed with determination and courage. Elai progressed to the second round before being eliminated, gaining valuable experience that will undoubtedly contribute to his future development as a martial artist. Competing takes great courage, and everyone at the club is proud of his efforts.

Pontypridd members also played a key role in officiating the event, with the following members serving as referees:

Their professionalism and dedication helped ensure the smooth running of the competition and reflected the high standards expected within Kyokushin Karate.

A special thank you must also go to the supporters from both Pontypridd and Hertford Dojos who attended and lent their encouragement throughout the day. The support of club members, families, and friends plays an invaluable role in creating a positive atmosphere for competitors and officials alike.

The event was made even more memorable by the opportunity to catch up with old friends within the Kyokushin community. It was particularly pleasing for Shihan Alwyn Heath to meet up once again with his old friend and sparring partner, Shihan Jeff Wybrow, highlighting the strong bonds and friendships that martial arts create over many years.

Events such as these showcase the spirit of Kyokushin Karate—bringing together competitors, coaches, referees, supporters, and lifelong friends through a shared passion for the art.
